Hello, I’m Becky!
How it started…
13 years ago I became a mom and what I didn’t know then was that motherhood wasn’t the only beautiful beginning. Because of one cruddy, little iPhone I carried in my back pocket and one precious, new baby girl I carried in my arms, I fell in love with photography.
I discovered I had an eye for the beautiful mundane of parenthood that people resonated and connected with. I started Arise Images with a focus on family lifestyle photography. The unique story of each family continues to capture my heart and drive my desire to create captivating visuals.
My passion within photography…
As a female entrepreneur I am drawn to the stories of courageous women who take that vulnerable leap of faith to create a business.
I find myself wanting to tell your story as the one behind your business. You manifested that good idea into a beautiful reality! You are the one taking risks and making mistakes in the name of building a business. I admire you, I want to be like you, I AM you and I’m here to elevate your story as I learn to do the same for myself.
On the naming of Arise…
There’s a story in the Bible where a man named Jairus falls at Jesus’ feet, pleading for Jesus to heal his dying daughter. Jesus goes to Jairus’ house where he is met with the weeping and wailing of a crowd. The girl had died. Jesus goes to the girl. He holds her hand and speaks to her, “Talitha, koum!” which means, little girl, I say to you, arise. The girl awakes and stands up to walk.
A few years ago I woke up to the painful reality that I had spent my life living and breathing for everyone else. My family wasn’t thriving, some of my friends had literally died, my church I had devoted my life to building was dying, my marriage was dying and I was in denial about it all.
Jesus grabbed me by the hand and spoke to me “Talitha, koum.” And I had a choice to rise, or stay dead.
I chose the grief-filled work of rising. Along the way, Arise Images was born from a choice to live, seek joy, and become a woman who desires to take up some space in the world. In this new chapter, I am chasing a joy-filled life that desires to elevate the voices of women around me in hopes they, too, learn to thrive.
